Healthy Families
Healthy Families is a voluntary program designed to promote healthy families and healthy children through a variety of services. Those services include strength based family assessment, linkage to community resources, and home visitation. Home visitation services include child development, access to medical care, and parent education. The services are home based, and potential participants are identified prenatally or at birth.
Achieva Resources’ Healthy Families program serves families in Fayette, Rush and Union Counties. In 2005, we touched over 400 families within the services of Strength-Based Assessment and Home Visitation.
A Family Resource Specialist goes to a family’s home and spends some time just getting to know the family and what they may need to make their job as a parent easier. Then they make referrals to resources in the community to help the family on the journey through parenthood.
A Family Support Specialist meets with the whole family to discuss parenting ideas, developmental milestones, and access to medical care for the whole family. The Family Support Specialist brings activities for the whole family to play with the children to promote a strong bond between parents and children and to help the children develop appropriately.
