“Megan was very fortunate to have exceptional
teachers and aides in her life while attending Richmond
Community Schools. The Megan Lyons Memorial
Scholarship was established to assist others
who also have a dream and desire to assist those with
special needs. Part of the proceeds from this tournament
will be used to award an annual scholarship to
an eligible senior who plans to pursue a Special Education
Degree. It’s our way of saying thank you and
giving back to the community that has given so much
to us. Achieva Resources has also played a very important
role in Megan’s life and our family is delighted
to partner with them for the 7th Annual Golf
Tournament in loving memory of Megan.”

Achieva's CEO recieves state honor

rainbow Dan Stewart, President/CEO of Achieva Resources Corporation, Inc in Richmond, has received the Indiana Association of Rehabilitation Facilities’ (INARF) Chairman’s Award, an annual honor given to an outstanding executive in the field of rehabilitation.

The award was presented in Indianapolis on March 11 during the 2009 INARF Annual Conference for Indiana professionals serving persons with disabilities.

Stewart has accomplished many successes since entering the disability field in 1971. Leading both local programs and statewide organizations, Stewart has expanded services for people with disabilities in the areas of employment opportunities, transportation, recreational activities and an array of services. In his role as CEO of Achieva, Stewart grew the number of counties served by his organization from one to 27 and expanded the number of individuals served to over 4,500 children and 1,100 adults with disabilities.

Stewart currently serves as President of the Board of Directors of Smart Partners Alliance – a corporation that implements Indiana’s State Use Program and educates, encourages, and supports others by promoting employment and other services for people with disabilities. He has also served as the Regional Director of the Northwest Indiana Special Olympics Program and was recently elected as Chairperson of the State Rehabilitation Services Commission.

The past six months have been a very busy time for Achieva Resources.  One of the major activities that our staff have been working on with our consumers, families and case manager is the implementation of the OASIS (Objective Assessment System for Individuals Supports) Program.  OASIS went into effect January 1, 2009.  The State is implementing this new program that effects approximately 7,000 consumers on the Support Services, Autism and Developmental Disability Waivers.  There have been many implementation issues with the OASIS System that need to be worked out.  Many of our families have received their Allocation Letter and are in the process of either accepting the State’s decision on funding their loved ones program for the next two years, or are requesting an OASIS Review Request (ORR).  We want to assure our families and emancipated consumers that our staff will be working with your case manager to make sure that the current needs for both residential and/or day services will be met by the OASIS Program..

If any Achieva family or consumers need any assistance with the OASIS process they can either contact me or Pat Risk, Executive Vice President of Operations at 765-966-0502 or at our email addresses dans@achievaresources.org, prisk@achievaresources.org.

We will be placing information on our website weekly to keep you up to date regarding the OASIS Program.
