EXCEL - Early experiences in Childhood Education and Learning

​Program Description:  EXCEL (Early eXperiences in Childhood Education and Learning) provides developmental screenings for children birth to five using a tool known as the ASQ (Ages and Stages Questionnaire) to determine if a child has any developmental delay or disability that would hamper them in being prepared for kindergarten.  If a delay appears we refer family to the appropriate agencies that can help their child.

Services Provided:  EXCEL provides developmental assessment screenings to  children from birth through 5 years of age.  As the assessment concludes, we provide referrals and resources that may be available to families within their community.  We provide the parents and child with a resource bag that includes books and developmental toys that are age appropriate for the child.  We provide the parents with a resource book that contains drawings, songs, finger play songs, and science experiments that the parent can use to aid in their child's development.  We offer ongoing services in 2 to 4 month  increments or sooner if the parent becomes alarmed about any developmental issues.  Parents are encouraged to call at any time for any information they may need or to ask any questions about their child’s development.  We give the parents the tools and confidence to help their children to be successful and better prepared for kindergarten.  If a child shows any delays in the areas of Communication, Gross Motor, Fine Motor, Problem Solving or Personal-Social skills we refer them to the appropriate organizations that will best fit the child and family's need.
